Netball Hong Kong China (NHKC) – Official Inclement Weather Policy

Policy Objective

The safety of all players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators is the paramount concern of Netball Hong Kong China, Limited (“NHKC”). This policy provides clear and consistent guidelines for the cancellation, suspension, or modification of all NHKC-sanctioned activities due to inclement weather and environmental conditions.

Scope

This policy applies to all activities organized or overseen by NHKC, including league games, tournaments, training sessions and development programs (“NHKC activities”).

Policy

This policy serves as a guideline. Safety first is the overriding principle. Individuals must exercise personal judgment regarding the safety associated with their attendance and/or participation in NHKC activities. Coaches and officials have the final authority (at their discretion) to suspend a session due to deteriorating local conditions, even in the absence of an official warning.

Automatic Cancellation Policy

All NHKC activities are automatically cancelled if a Typhoon Signal No. 8 (or above) or a Red/Black Rainstorm Warning is expected to be in force within 2 hours of the activity start time.

If warnings are lowered 2 hours before start time, activities may resume. A final decision will be announced on our Facebook and Instagram pages on the day of the activity

Wet Weather Policy (outdoor activities)

For all league matches, please refer to the specific by-laws of the respective league Handbooks and/or By-Laws for the official wet weather arrangements.

For all other outdoor activities, coaches and officials will make a final decision based on real-time weather conditions and an assessment of the venue’s safety.

Hot Weather Policy (outdoor activities)

Coaches and officials may adjust intensity and length of activities. Frequent cooling breaks will be implemented.

Air Quality Health Index (outdoor activities)

AQHI 8 and above: Attendance and participation in NHKC activities is discretionary. Sensitive individuals (e.g., those with asthma) are advised not to participate. Coaches and officials may modify the activities to lower intensity.
