JUNE 2017

President's Words

Welcome to our first official newsletter of Hong Kong Netball. This has been a fantastic year for Hong Kong Netball, the below are just the tips of the iceberg!

Hong Kong Tri-Nations – March 2017 – Hong Kong (internationally ranked 25) played Zimbabwe (17) & Malaysia (19). Hong Kong defeated Malaysia to finish 2nd in the Tournament. A fantastic result for Hong Kong Opens Team! Also, a sincere gratitude to Mel Potgieter who helped create care packages and raised fund by donations and lucky draw. A total of $ 19,725 was raised solely because of Mel's kind efforts and the generosity of the netball community. Thank you to all of you!

Joint Dynamics HK Netball League Best & Fairest – Congratulations to the winner - Cheryl Purcell from HKFC Cyclones, Div 5. The Prize was 10 x 1-1 training sessions & 5 x Sports Massage sessions at Joint Dynamics.

Hong Kong Netball could not function without the volunteers including coaches, umpires, players and club committees. I personally would like to thank the HKNA Committee that has worked tirelessly throughout the year. I specifically would like to thank our Excom, Danielle Taylor – VP Coaching & Development, Emma Gregory – VP League & Umpiring, Christina Yue – Honorary Treasurer (also Grassroots Programme Convenor) & Katherine Ip – Secretary.

A huge congratulation to Ms Veronica Arnold who was re-elected as President of the Asian Netball Federation Meeting held in Jeon-ju Korea in June 2017. This is a great honour for Veronica & Hong Kong.

HKNA could not have achieved the performance from the last year without the support of our major sponsors Joint Dynamics for sponsoring the National Open Team & our Premier League, and Champion System for outfitting our National Open & Youth Teams.

Finally, I wish you all a safe summer holiday and look forward seeing you next season at Hong Kong Netball!
